Lucy and Yak
Lucy and Yak are one of few brands in the UK that offer clothing made from recycled plastic, for instance, they sell a fleece jacket named ‘Stevie’ that is made from “100% Polyester from RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES” (Lucy and Yak). They prioritize sustainability in the company, so much so, it is in their tagline: “Independent, Handmade, Sustainable Dungarees”.
In addition to clothing, they also offer a range of zero waste lifestyle accessories. The zero waste movement “is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused”(Wikipedia). This movement has increased in popularity in the past few years, especially so within the millennial generation. Today, zero waste is considered trendy and necessary, which is why more and more brands are offering zero waste accessories such as a reusable cup, shampoo bars and produce bags. These sorts of items will be packaged in either biodegradable packaging or no packaging at all.
As Lucy and Yak regard themselves as a sustainable company, it is suited for them to support a zero waste lifestyle and include sustainable fabrics in their clothing.
